Lee Helgen joined Envision Minnesota as executive director in September 2012.

Lee served on the Saint Paul City Council for eight years where he provided extensive leadership promoting sustainability policies at the community and regional levels. He initiated the Sustainable Saint Paul effort which contributed to Saint Paul becoming recognized as one of the top twenty “Greenest Cities” in America. He led the effort to promote green building design guidelines, substantially increasing the number of LEED certified buildings in Saint Paul and across the region.
